The Ray Bay at ZOO Zlín in Lešná is the most visited exhibition in the entire zoo and is unique in Europe — visitors can not only observe Omani eagle rays in a spacious pool but also touch and hand-feed them. The pavilion is complemented by smaller tanks with marine invertebrates (shrimp, anemones, corals, sea urchins) and tropical fish (clownfish, surgeonfish, butterfly fish). The ZOO Zlín complex also includes terrariums with rare reptiles, making a school trip a rich cross-section of aquatic and terrestrial life.
Why visit this place?
More than 20 rays swim in a pool holding some 130 cubic metres of sea water, and you can stroke and even feed them — just wash your hands thoroughly and take off rings and watches.
Zlín Zoo was the first in Europe to breed the Oman cownose ray.
The exhibition is interactive — it expects you to touch the exhibits and try them out.
Allow roughly two hours; the programme is aimed at every age group from preschool to secondary school.
