The Papua pavilion at ZOO Ostrava is the largest aqua-terrarium exhibition in the entire zoo and showcases the endangered fauna of the island of Papua New Guinea. Five biotope sections include a large freshwater aquarium with predatory barramundi and rare archerfish (which hunt insects by shooting jets of water up to 3 m), a mangrove ecosystem with monitor lizards and mudskippers, a river cascade with rainbowfish, and a coral marine aquarium with wobbegong sharks and tropical fish (clownfish, angelfish). The pavilion houses approximately 25 species of reptiles, fish and crustaceans in total.

Besides the tour there are hands-on workshops, so children get to make something themselves.
Allow roughly two and a half hours; the programme is aimed at every age group from preschool to secondary school.
