The new aquarium pavilion at Zoo Hodonín has been open to visitors since 25 August 2026. The two-storey exhibit, which cost 70 million crowns, showcases hundreds of fish from the African lakes Tanganyika and Malawi, many of them endemic. The pavilion replaces the original aquarium exhibit destroyed by a tornado in 2021.

Why visit this place?

• The aquarium pavilion opened on 26 August 2026 with two large tanks holding fauna of Lakes Malawi and Tanganyika plus four aquaterrariums.
• The tanks hold 160 thousand litres of water and about two thousand animals of thirty-five species.
• Allow roughly two hours; the programme is aimed at every age group from preschool to secondary school.
• There are 37 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
• There is a dedicated programme for school groups, not just general admission.
