Category: freshwater exhibition with glazed underwater tunnel
Živá voda in the village of Modrá near Velehrad is a unique freshwater exhibition focused on the life of the Morava River and surrounding wetlands. The centrepiece is a glazed tunnel running 3.5 metres below the surface of the display pond (8 m long, 2 m wide) — the largest freshwater tunnel in a natural environment in Europe. Visitors observe catfish, beluga sturgeon, carp, pike-perch, pike, sturgeon and rare native species; on the second underground level they can see deep-water life and fish hibernating.
