The Empire-style Zákupy Castle served as the summer residence of the Habsburg imperial family – most notably Emperor Ferdinand I (the Benevolent), who spent his years here after abdication. The castle dates from the 17th century and was rebuilt in the Empire style. Richly furnished historic interiors, a picture gallery, and a French-style park have been preserved. It is administered by the National Heritage Institute. Suitable for excursions on the theme of the Habsburg Monarchy and the 19th century.
