The Neoclassical New Château of the Kinský family with the exhibition Life in the Biedermeier Era. The Kinský family built the château between 1829 and 1833 to a design by their family architect Jindřich Koch. Guided tours lead through state rooms furnished in the Biedermeier style, the first floor houses the Kinský Gallery and the basement contains the museum exhibition of the town of Kostelec nad Orlicí. The grounds include a freely accessible English park and a château café. Suitable for school trips about the 19th-century nobility and Neoclassical architecture.

Why visit this place?

• The chateau was built in 1829-1835 in the Empire style to a design by the architect Heinrich Koch for Josef Ervin Kinsky, and had running water and hot-air heating from the start.
• The park of almost 30 hectares is protected as a nature reserve; some 200 species of woody plants grow there and thousands of snowflakes bloom in spring.
• Allow roughly an hour; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 39 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
• There is a dedicated programme for school groups, not just general admission.
