A Renaissance chateau managed by the National Heritage Institute in the village of Janovice u Rýmařova. Since 31 May 2025, a new tour route has been open with period-furnished interiors – the private and social apartments of Count František of Harrach from the early 20th century (tower room, countess's salon, study, natural history cabinet, library, chateau chapel). The chateau was created by converting a late Gothic fortress from the 15th–16th centuries.
Why visit this place?
On 31 May 2025 the Národní památkový ústav opened a new tour route with period-furnished interiors – the private and reception apartment of Count František z Harrachu from the early 20th century – after a restoration costing more than CZK 20 million.
The chateau was created by rebuilding a late Gothic fortress built around 1520 by Petr ze Žerotína; in 1721 the estate passed through the marriage of Marie Arnoštka into the ownership of the Counts of Harrach.
The programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
There are 36 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
