The second largest castle and château complex in the Czech Republic, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. A Gothic castle expanded into an extensive Renaissance and Baroque château above the Vltava river. Features a uniquely preserved Baroque theatre, a château tower with a lookout, and château gardens.

The castle's Baroque theatre is the oldest of only four 18th-century theatres in the world that still have their original sets and stage machinery — including machines for waves, lightning and thunder.
Bears have lived in the castle moat since the 16th century: the Rožmberk family kept them to advertise a supposed kinship with the Italian house of Orsini. They have been in the moat between the first and second courtyards since 1707.
