The Makov Wildlife Rescue Station, operated by ZO ČSOP, is located near Písek in a picturesque setting. It takes in injured and disabled wild animals from across southern Bohemia. For schools it offers an educational trail with commentary tailored to the age of the children, demonstrations of bird ringing, and a campfire session with plant and animal identification activities. It is one of the most active educational stations in the South Bohemian Region.

The rescue station was built in 1993 around the former Makov gamekeeper's lodge by a pond that dates back to 1770.
