Why visit this place?

• This is the only functioning male Cistercian monastery in Czechia. Vok I of Rožmberk founded it in 1259 and ten generations of the family were buried in the Rožmberk crypt.
• The monastery libraries hold over 70,000 volumes, including 200 parchment manuscripts and 400 incunabula. The Záviš Cross has been kept here since the late 13th century.
