A low wooden lookout tower (total height 5.3 m, viewing platform at a height of 2.6 m, climbed via a ladder staircase of 17 steps) on Římanský kopec (304 m above sea level) on the eastern edge of Semechnice. It is part of the village relaxation zone with a pétanque and marbles court, an amphitheatre, a herb garden, a barefoot trail and a natural maze made of more than 300 elm trees. From the tower there is a view of the village of Semechnice, Opočno Chateau and part of the Orlické hory mountains.
Why visit this place?
The wooden tower on Římanský kopec is 5.3 m tall with a viewing platform at 2.6 m and was ceremonially opened on 26 July 2025 together with the celebrations of 140 years since the founding of SDH Semechnice.
The site also includes a natural maze of more than 300 elm trees; the overall construction of the relaxation zone, costing approx. CZK 5.8 million, was largely (about CZK 3.8 million) funded by a grant from the IROP programme.
Admission is free, which helps when the class budget is tight.
Allow roughly half an hour; the programme is aimed at preschoolers, lower primary and upper primary.
