The Orlík hydroelectric power plant on the Vltava River offers guided tours for schools and the general public. Located at the foot of the dam of the largest-volume storage reservoir in the Czech Republic, the plant uses four Kaplan turbines with a combined output of 364 MW to cover peak electricity demand. The tour takes visitors through both the interior and exterior of the facility, including the dam, and the commentary can be adapted to the age and expertise of the group – popular-educational, semi-technical or fully technical. Orlík is scheduled to be converted into a pumped-storage plant between 2027 and 2033. Particularly suitable for physics, engineering and energy ecology.
