The unique underground Lipno I hydroelectric power plant is carved 160 metres below the surface of the Vltava River in a granite cavern. The visitor centre offers films, a working model of the power plant, and expert commentary. Exclusive tours descend by special lift into the machine hall housing a 240-tonne generator and the 3.6 km outflow tunnel. Open daily during the summer season; outside the season by appointment only.
