Vísecká rychta v Kravařích

Location: Víska 3, 470 02 Kravaře · Liberec Region

Category: vernacular architecture

This timbered manor court house dating from 1797 measures 33×17×28 m, making it one of the largest timbered buildings in Bohemia, and since 1986 it has served as a branch of the Regional Museum and Gallery in Česká Lípa. The ground floor houses a furnished farmhouse from the early 19th century — the reeve's parlour, the retired farmer's room, a black kitchen with an oven, a larder and a cowshed with a display of laundering and ironing. The upper floor explains the building techniques of the North Bohemian house and the traditional livelihoods of the Česká Lípa region: hop growing, grain farming, spinning, weaving and carpentry. In the yard and in front of the brick barn from 1933 stand agricultural machines from the first half of the 20th century.
