A fascinating science and technology centre in the historic grounds of Dolní Vítkovice in Ostrava. Interactive exhibitions on physics, chemistry and industry, tours of a wind turbine, blast furnace and coking plant. Children can try their hand at an industrial process simulator.
Why visit this place?
The last tapping of blast furnace no. 1 took place on 27 September 1998, and in June 2002 the Lower Vítkovice area was declared a national cultural monument.
To a design by architect Josef Pleskot the furnace was turned into an educational and viewing route, opened to visitors on 20 March 2012.
