URSUS in Dolní Lomná is an experience centre dedicated to the nature of the Beskydy Mountains, with programmes for schools. Environmental programmes for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools include field trips directly in the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy Mountains as well as multi-day options. The centre features a modern exhibition called U všeho byla a je voda (Water Has Always Been There), the Zelený ráj (Green Paradise) natural garden and a 3D cinema showing the documentary Beskydská zákoutí (Nooks of the Beskydy). The centre also serves as the Information Centre of the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area and provides education based on STEAM and environmental education principles.
Why visit this place?
The exhibition leads from the origin of the Beskydy mountains and Carpathian wildlife through the journey of water down the valleys to wetlands and butterflies.
It also includes the interactive model Animal Tracks of the Beskydy – wolf, squirrel or badger – and the survival story of the endangered large blue butterfly.
Besides the tour there are hands-on workshops, so children get to make something themselves.
Allow roughly three hours; the programme is aimed at every age group from preschool to secondary school.

EVVO and STEAM educational programmes for kindergartens, lower and upper primary schools and secondary schools. Programmes lasting 1–6 hours include field excursions, work in the water exhibition and the nature garden. Multi-day residential programmes are also available.
