The Textilní Oustí exhibition maps the textile past of Ústí nad Orlicí. It is one of the permanent exhibitions of the Municipal Museum, which has been housed since 2008 in the Art Nouveau Hernych Villa — the family home of textile entrepreneur Florian Hernych, built in 1906–1907 to plans by the Karlín firm Matěj Blecha. Since 2019 the exhibition has been complemented by an interactive textile craft workshop where visitors can try working with fabric themselves. The museum offers programmes for primary and secondary schools, museum crafting sessions, an escape game, a view from the museum tower and guided tours every Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Why visit this place?

• The display is housed in the Hernych Villa, built in 1906–1907 for the local textile manufacturer Florian Hernych.
• The villa was built to plans by the Karlín firm Matěj Blecha and now holds the permanent textile craft workshop Textilní Oustí.
• Besides the tour there are hands-on workshops, so children get to make something themselves.
• Allow roughly an hour and a quarter; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
