A late Renaissance chateau near Švihov managed by the National Heritage Institute, built in the early 17th century after the previous fortress burned down. Since 2026 the main attraction for visitors has been the new exhibition Cestovní horečka (Travel Fever) in the forecourt, which uses period objects from the chateau collections to illustrate the passion for travel among European nobility at the turn of the 20th century. The chateau interiors themselves open only exceptionally for tours led by the castellan.

Why visit this place?

• Mikuláš II Šic z Drahenic had the château built after the earlier fortress burned down in 1606; a stone tablet above the courtyard entrance dates it to 1611.
• The exhibition Cestovní horečka (Travel Fever) also recalls the story of Wolfert Katz from the local estate, who set out in the early 19th century for the South American colony of Berbice as a planter.
• The programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
