The unique historic St. George's shaft near Jihlava is part of a mining educational trail commemorating the history of silver mining in the oldest royal mining town in Bohemia. Jihlava has been associated with silver mining since the 13th century. A working pump dating from the reign of Rudolf II was discovered in the shaft. The project opens access to the shaft entrance and a drainage adit, where an exhibition on a medieval silver smelting works is also being prepared.
