A new fishery museum opened in June 2025 on the dam of the largest Czech pond, Rožmberk, presenting the history of Třeboň pond farming and the work of fishermen. The exhibition was created by Rybářství Třeboň a.s. in cooperation with the Secondary School of Fishery and Water Management of Jakub Krčín; the museum can only be visited as a guided tour by appointment (min. 6 persons). An excellent destination during the Rožmberk pond harvest in October.

Why visit this place?

• The pond below the museum was designed by the Rozmberk regent Jakub Krcin of Jelcany and built between 1584 and 1590 by 800 workers.
• To protect the dam from floods, Krcin had the Nova reka dug, a 13 km channel diverting high water from the Luznice to the Nezarka.
• Allow roughly an hour; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 55 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
• There is a dedicated programme for school groups, not just general admission.
