The Rudolf Kämpf porcelain factory in Loučky near Karlovy Vary has been producing porcelain since 1907. It is associated with the Leander brand and its iconic pink porcelain. The factory makes dining, coffee and tea sets, mugs, plates, teapots and other utility porcelain, still by hand and using traditional methods. You can take a look inside the production during guided tours that accompany the porcelain fair — held twice a year, in spring and autumn. The tours are not suitable for prams, and larger groups need to book in advance. Since 2022 the factory has been part of G. Benedikt Group.

Why visit this place?

• Construction of the porcelain works was begun in June 1907 by the American Benjamin Franklin Hunt of Boston; after his bankruptcy it was finished by the owners of the glassworks in Nové Sedlo.
• It is named after Rudolf Kämpf of Grünlas; in 1936 annual output here exceeded 2 million sets.
• Besides the tour there are hands-on workshops, so children get to make something themselves.
• Allow roughly an hour and a quarter; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 64 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
