The Hard lookout tower stands on the hill of the same name almost in the centre of Sokolov (461 m above sea level). The present 18 m tall tower was rebuilt in 2001 on the site of an older tower above the hospital and offers views of the Sokolov region, the Ore Mountains and the Slavkov Forest.

Why visit this place?

• A belvedere gazebo known as the Powder Tower once stood here; rebuilt into a real lookout, it opened to the public in April 1908.
• In 1933 it was turned into a memorial to the victims of the First World War with a five-metre copper statue of Christ, later melted down for metal.
• Allow roughly 45 minutes; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
