Rozhledna Granátník – pod Kletí

A 5 m tall wooden lookout tower on the slope of Granátník hill below Kleť near Srnín. It stands at an elevation of roughly 750 m, 23 steps lead up to the viewing platform and from there you can see Hluboká, České Budějovice, the Novohradské hory mountains, the Vltava valley and the Zlatá Koruna monastery. The 8.5 km long Granátník circular nature trail with nine information boards leads to it; it also includes the children's Srnčí stezka trail.

Why visit this place?

• The tower, just five metres tall, was designed by architect Vojtech Storm; it was built in 2002 and opened to the public on 5 June 2003.
• Twenty-four steep steps lead to the viewing platform; the state forestry service and the Blansky les protected area helped build it.
• Admission is free, which helps when the class budget is tight.
• Allow roughly half an hour; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 60 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• An outdoor trip that, according to our records, runs all year round.
