The regional museum in Žatec focuses on the history and archaeology of the central Ohře River region. The highlight is the Žatec Treasure – the richest silver hoard from before 1050, comprising coins, reliquary pendants, crosses, and gold rings. The museum also houses a unique collection of hop tokens (the largest in Europe), a working clock mechanism from 1768, an interactive Žatec Time Machine, prehistoric finds from the Ohře region, and an exhibition on the town's history. It occupies three buildings: the main building (Husova 678), Křížova vila, and Stará papírna.
