One of Prague's largest nature reserves, spanning 170 hectares in the southwestern part of the city. The deep limestone valley conceals caves, abandoned quarries, rocky walls and palaeontological sites. The area features children's playgrounds, a nature trail and an enclosure for Przewalski's horses from Prague Zoo.

Why visit this place?

• Old legend places Saint Procopius here as a hermit tempted by the devil. The famous Prokopská cave, 120 metres long, was quarried away after 1880 in what was known as the King's quarry.
• In early 1944 a plan emerged to build a Junkers aircraft-engine factory in the Prokop quarry. The hall was finished in March 1945, but production never began.
