A drinking-water reservoir on the Svratka river where swimming is banned. Vír supplies drinking water to the Bystřice, Nové Město and part of the Žďár areas, and through the Vír regional water main also to Brno, so a first-degree hygiene protection zone applies and neither bathing nor fishing is allowed. The Morava River Authority has, however, opened up the right bank: an asphalt cycle path runs along it to Dalečín, together with a water-management nature trail explaining how drinking water is treated and why the catchment is protected.
