The house of Leoš Janáček in Hukvaldy, where the composer returned for holidays and inspiration. He was born on 3 July 1854 in the local school and bought the cottage in Podoboří from his sister-in-law at the end of 1921. The historical part of the memorial shows the parlour, bedroom and kitchen as they looked during his stays, while the educational exhibition covers his relationship to Hukvaldy, his collecting of speech melodies and his sketches for the opera The Cunning Little Vixen. Ideal to combine with a tour of the neighbouring Hukvaldy Castle and the walk-through game park with fallow deer and mouflons.

Janáček was born at Hukvaldy on 3 July 1854 in the local school; he bought this house only in late 1921 from his brother František's widow.
He spent his last days here in early August 1928 and died in Ostrava on 12 August; his wife Zdenka opened the house to visitors in 1933.
