In a former school building beneath Vranov nad Dyjí castle, large aquariums display native freshwater fish from Moravian rivers and reservoirs. The largest tank, with a volume of 8,500 litres, houses carp and three species of sturgeon. Additional tanks feature eels, catfish, and other rare fish species – the exhibition also includes a section dedicated to the history of fishing, with historical wicker traps, nets, and trophies.
Guided tour of freshwater aquariums with commentary on river and reservoir fish of South Moravia. The fishing exhibition on the first floor offers a glimpse into the history of angling in the region. Excellent for combining with a visit to Vranov nad Dyjí castle or Podyjí National Park.
