The Museum of Folk Ceramics in Tupesy in the Slovácko region presents the renowned Tupesy majolica – hand-painted ceramics decorated with traditional motifs. Visitors learn about the history of pottery and can try painting ceramics themselves.

Why visit this place?

• Pottery in Tupesy was revived in 1914 at the suggestion of ethnographer František Kretz by the Úředníček and Tichý families.
• The local faience tradition goes back to the Habaner craftsmen and had almost died out by the early 20th century.
• Besides the tour there are hands-on workshops, so children get to make something themselves.
• Allow roughly an hour and a quarter; the programme is aimed at every age group from preschool to secondary school.
• There are 53 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
