A glassmaking museum on Náměstí Míru square in Nový Bor documenting local glassmaking since 1893. The permanent exhibition shows the development of glass in Bohemia, and especially in the Nový Bor region, from the 18th century to the present, organised by finishing techniques — painting, cutting, engraving and hot forming — and is complemented by historical models of workshops. The museum is an organisational unit of the town of Nový Bor and offers guided tours as well as tours with worksheets for groups of children.

Why visit this place?

• The museum was opened in May 1893 by the glassworkers' union in the town hall and moved to house no. 105, where it still sits, in 1952.
• An ornate sandstone portal frames the entrance, with an anchor in its gable — a symbol of the overseas trade in North Bohemian glass.
• Allow roughly an hour; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 46 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
• There is a dedicated programme for school groups, not just general admission.
