The Municipal Museum and Gallery in Svitavy is located in a building on Máchova alej. The permanent exhibitions are Searching for the Star of David, The Labyrinth of Svitavy Stories, The History of Laundry and Fragments of Svitavy Nature, complemented by rotating exhibitions in the gallery. For schools, the museum prepares educational programmes, lectures and workshops, and it also has museum workshops and a garden.

Why visit this place?

• The exhibition Hledání hvězdy Davidovy tells, across 34 panels, the story of Oskar and Emilie Schindler, who saved some 1200 persecuted Jews.
• The permanent exhibition Historie praní displays some 50 examples of washing technology in chronological order, and you can try washing on a washboard.
• The exhibition is interactive — it expects you to touch the exhibits and try them out.
• Allow roughly an hour and a quarter; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
