Museum dedicated to prehistoric finds from the Štramberk karst and Šipka cave. The exhibition presents the world-famous discovery of the lower jaw of a Neanderthal child (the so-called Šipka jaw, approx. 40,000 years old), found in 1880 by teacher Karel Jaroslav Maška. Visitors can walk through a replica of Šipka cave, view Jurassic sea fossils, skeletons of prehistoric animals and bronze treasures. The museum offers rich educational programmes for schools – including Neanderthals at Kotouč, Prehistoric Artists, and The Secret of Kotouč. The Šipka cave itself on Kotouč hill is freely accessible and is located about 1 km from the town square along the Lašská nature trail.
