The Road Museum in Vikýřovice near Šumperk is the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic and presents the history of building roads, bridges and tunnels, transport technology and the development of road transport. The interactive exhibition is suitable for schools.

Why visit this place?

• The museum was created in late 2005 by a decision of the Olomouc Region and occupies the so-called Krenišovský dvůr; its permanent road history exhibition opened in 2010.
• Since 2011 the museum has also managed the restored toll station in Sobotín from the mid-19th century, one of the last toll houses in Czechia preserved in its original form.
• The exhibition is interactive — it expects you to touch the exhibits and try them out.
• Allow roughly an hour and a quarter; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 57 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• An outdoor trip that, according to our records, runs all year round.
