The oldest museum in the Rakovník region, a branch of the T. G. M. Museum in Rakovník. It was founded in 1894 on the initiative of the local Readers' Association. It offers two permanent exhibitions – a Celtic one featuring a copy of the famous find of a marlstone Celtic head, and an interactive ethnographic one with demonstrations of crafts and food processing. These are complemented by temporary exhibitions, lectures and workshops for children and families with children.

Why visit this place?

• It is the oldest museum in the Rakovník region, marking 130 years in 2024, and grew out of the local reading society and its secretary Jindřich Michálek.
• The permanent Celts of the Rakovník Region display holds a copy of the marlstone head from Mšecké Žehrovice, found broken into four pieces in 1943.
• Allow roughly an hour; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 42 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
• There is a dedicated programme for school groups, not just general admission.
