A world-unique museum of puppet cultures featuring the Magical World of Puppets exhibition. Offers two puppet play rooms, puppet workshops – puppet-making, the Maňáskárna programme for children aged 5 and up, puppet theatres for hands-on play, and programmes delivered directly at schools. Hosts theatrical performances, concerts and puppetry competitions.

Why visit this place?

• The museum grew in 1972 around the private collection of puppeteer Jan Malík and now holds over 50,000 items, more than 8,500 of them puppets.
• The international section shows puppets from India, Japan and Burma, shadow puppets from Indonesia and Vietnamese water puppets.
• Besides the tour there are hands-on workshops, so children get to make something themselves.
• Allow roughly an hour and a half; the programme is aimed at preschoolers, lower primary and upper primary.
