Vamberk is the centre of traditional bobbin lace in Bohemia. The Lace Museum offers extensive collections, demonstrations by lacemakers and educational programmes. A unique piece of UNESCO intangible cultural heritage written into the region's memory.

Why visit this place?

• The museum was founded in 1929 from the collections of the local lace school set up in 1889, and since 1948 it has occupied a villa built in 1916.
• Tradition has it that bobbin lace was brought to the Vamberk area by the Belgian noblewoman Magdalena Grambová in the early 17th century.
• Besides the tour there are hands-on workshops, so children get to make something themselves.
• Allow roughly an hour; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 40 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
