The Municipal Museum in Vodňany is housed in the historic town hall building on náměstí Svobody square. The permanent exhibition Fishing Tradition in Vodňany presents pond farming, milling, the local fishing school and fisheries research; children can catch a fish in a wooden pond here. The gallery in the former synagogue offers memorial rooms dedicated to the writers František Herites and Julius Zeyer, and a hall with drawings by Mikoláš Aleš for the decoration of the Vodňany church. The museum organises educational programmes for schools.
