As the first zoo in the Czech Republic, Zoopark Chomutov opened a unique marine jellyfish exposition in January 2023. In eight aquaria with atmospheric backlighting and music, over 160 jellyfish of eight species swim; the largest tank measures three metres and was manufactured in Japan. The exposition is part of the grounds of the largest Czech zoo (112 ha) and admission is included in the zoopark ticket price – an excellent combination for a full-day school trip.

Why visit this place?

• The exhibition is interactive — it expects you to touch the exhibits and try them out.
• Allow roughly three hours; the programme is aimed at every age group from preschool to secondary school.
• There are 40 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.

For schools

Environmental educational programmes for kindergartens (from age 5) and primary school years 1–9 at the Ecocentre of the zoopark. Programmes last 120 minutes and are tailored to age.
