Kokořínský důl is a 14 km long picturesque sandstone valley carved by the Pšovka stream in the heart of the Kokořínsko–Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area. A system of canyons, side ravines and rock formations makes it one of the most beautiful valleys in Bohemia. Along the nature trails you can admire rock faces, pools and rare plant communities.

Why visit this place?

• The reserve was declared back in 1953 and shows the best documented early stages of block sandstone disintegration anywhere in Europe.
• Weathering carved out the pokličky rock mushrooms, honeycombs, windows and arches; the wetlands along the Pšovka are a Ramsar site.
• Admission is free, which helps when the class budget is tight.
• Allow roughly two and a half hours; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 33 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• An outdoor trip that, according to our records, runs all year round.
