The Premonstratensian monastery of Teplá was founded in 1193 and ranks among the most significant monastic complexes in Bohemia. Its centrepiece is a Romanesque-Gothic monastic church set within an extensive Baroque complex with cloisters. The monastery library holds over 100,000 volumes of historical books and manuscripts, making it one of the most important in the country. Tours include the church, library, cloisters and monastery museum. Suitable for excursions covering ecclesiastical history, medieval literacy and Baroque architecture.
