Jeskyně Na Turoldu – Mikulov

A karst cave in the nature reserve of Turold Hill on the northern edge of Mikulov is home to a bat colony and conceals unique karst formations. The guided tour lasts 60 minutes and children are fascinated by the chance to see live bats. In front of the cave begins a 300 m educational trail Turold with 8 information panels about geology, palaeontology and local nature.

Why visit this place?

• The Na Turoldu cave itself is 1650 metres long; together with the Liščí díra cave it forms a system more than 3100 metres long. It is the largest cave system in the Pálava protected area.
• The passage to the lowest level features rare Turold formations resembling cauliflower or soap foam. At a depth of 37 metres lies a lake chamber with a lake 8 m deep.

• Allow roughly an hour; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
