The information centre was set up by ČEZ in 1991 in the Vysoký hrádek manor, the only surviving trace of the vanished village of Březí u Týna nad Vltavou.
A fort was built on the site by the lords of Březí in the 14th century; in 1556 Zikmund Malovec bought it and the Malovec family held it into the 19th century.
