One of the best-preserved water castles in Bohemia, surrounded by two moats. The castle became famous as the inspiration for the fairy-tale castle of Sleeping Beauty in the fairy-tale film Cinderella. It offers tours of the interiors, kitchen and tower, as well as a boat ride around the moat.
Why visit this place?
The fairy tale Three Wishes for Cinderella was filmed here in 1973, mainly the scenes at the farmyard where Cinderella lives.
The castle was rebuilt in Late Gothic style in 1480–1489 for Půta Švihovský of Rýzmberk; architect Benedikt Rejt worked on the fortifications.
