A vast Gothic castle from the 14th century rising above the Sázava river, associated with Jaroslav Hašek, the author of The Good Soldier Švejk, who spent the last years of his life here. The castle offers a tour of the castle grounds and a museum with exhibitions on the history of the castle and on J. Hašek. From the castle tower there is a panoramic view of the Vysočina region.

The castle was founded around 1310 by the lords of Lichtenburk, and in 1417 the first Hussite priests were ordained in its chapel under Čeněk z Vartenberka.
