The Mining Museum in Planá presents ore mining underground in the Ondřej Šlik gallery. The tour leads through a labyrinth of passages several hundred years old, where an exhibition on ore mining is installed. Mines for silver, lead, copper and antimony are documented in Planá as far back as the pre-Hussite era, and uranium was later mined in the surrounding area. The last tour starts 45 minutes before closing time.

Why visit this place?

• The museum occupies the Ondřej Šlik prospecting adit from the second half of the 16th century, driven in a search for new silver deposits.
• The underground exhibition fills almost 200 metres of galleries, part of it devoted to uranium mining at the Dyleň and Vítkov mines.
• Allow roughly 100 minutes; the programme is aimed at lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 19 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
• Coaches can park right at the site and the grounds are step-free.
