Category: historic water hammer mill

The historic water hammer mill in Šindelová near Rotava is part of the industrial heritage of the Ore Mountains and complements the nearby Šindelová Ironworks — a charcoal blast furnace. The water hammer mill (hammer mill) used the power of a waterwheel to drive a forge hammer and was used for processing iron. The site documents the complex industrial settlement of the Ore Mountains in the 18th–19th centuries, when metal production flourished here. Tours explain the technology of hammer-mill iron processing as well as the lives of miners and ironworkers.
