Expozice Věznice Uherské Hradiště – komunistické vězení

Location: U Reduty 256, 686 01 Uherské Hradiště · Zlín Region

Category: exhibition of totalitarian imprisonment 1948–1960

An exhibition on the history of the Uherské Hradiště prison, located in the attic of the Reduta building. It is outside the prison complex itself and is not wheelchair accessible. Photographs and text panels chart both the Nazi and the Communist totalitarian eras, with a separate section devoted to the prisoners and their fates — their testimonies can be heard in recordings made in 2016. Also on display are plans documenting what was intended for the building in the 1960s and 1980s. Slovácké muzeum offers educational programmes here for years 4 and 5 of primary school, lower secondary and secondary schools, as well as guided tours. Tickets are sold at the Municipal Information Centre at Masarykovo náměstí 21.
