The Svornost Mine in Jáchymov, dating from 1518, is the oldest working mine in Europe. Silver was mined here, later cobalt and uranium ores; it was from Jáchymov rock that Marie Curie-Skłodowská isolated radium. The radon spring discovered in 1864 on the 12th level supplies the Jáchymov spa with healing water to this day. The mine complex is part of the Jáchymov Mining Cultural Landscape, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019. Tours of the 12th level are organised by Léčebné lázně Jáchymov only occasionally.
