The late Gothic Black Tower, built between 1547 and 1557, dominates Míru Square in Klatovy. The clock tower and belfry were designed by the Italian builder Antonius de Sala; it stands 81.6 metres tall and 226 steps lead up to the viewing gallery at a height of roughly 50 metres. It offers views of the town and the surrounding region and is managed by the Klatovy Municipal Cultural Centre.
