The biogas plant in Bělá u Staré Paky generates 1,020 kW of electrical power. It processes exclusively the surplus from its own crop and livestock production – maize silage, grass silage, ground grain and cattle manure. Operations began in November 2011, and the waste heat warms the workshops and a chicken fattening facility on the premises. The tour shows fermentation, gas holders and the adjoining robotic barn.

Why visit this place?

• The plant at Bela near Stara Paka started up in November 2011 and produces 1,020 kW of electricity and 951 kW of heat.
• Waste heat from the engines keeps the fermenter at 41 degrees and warms the poultry house; the digestate becomes bedding and fertiliser.
• The exhibition is interactive — it expects you to touch the exhibits and try them out.
• Allow roughly an hour and a half; the programme is aimed at upper primary and secondary students.
• There are 77 more tips within 25 km, enough to build a full-day trip.
• The whole programme is indoors, so rain is not a problem.
